"As 11-year old Jonny Weldon steps off the stage in the West End to meet a throng of autograph hunters at the stage door, he admits he has to pinch himself.
A year ago he was leading a fairly quiet life at home at Barton-on-Sea, with mum, dad and brother Rob, 15 attending Arnwood School. Now he is a leading actor in the smash hit Cameron Mackintosh, Disney musucal Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre.
And what is more, he is about to become a full-time student at the Sylvia Young Theatre School on a half-scholarship sponsored by The Stage newspaper....
.... He was offered the chance to audition through Swish of the Curtain Drama School and its London agent Redroofs.
Jonny has been a pupil at swish since 2001, where he most recently appeared in Bugsy Malone at the Bournemouth Pavilion.
